History of Brighter Steps Preschool...

My intense interest in early childhood development (an interest which has now evolved into an aspiration and a pursuit for a career) happened as a direct result of working in the field of education. Working in education helped me become aware of my own child's development and how important it is to encourage and cultivate that development. I realized that parents are teachers, and no one can replace the influence that parents can have on their own children in their early years.

I was a teen mother who did not understand the importance of early childhood development or social interaction. I was privileged to have an aunt who operated a home day care. Not fulling fully aware of what a childcare provider should offer besides a safe environment, I left my infant son in my aunt's care from birth to the age of five. Although my son was cared for and loved deeply, it was not until my son entered kindergarten that I realized how far behind in basic academic skills my son had fallen. He did not possess the foundational skills required for kindergarten readiness. Unfortunately from his first day in kindergarten until he graduated high school he struggled immensely. As a working mother I was preoccupied with a daily struggle to provide for my son. I did not have the resources or information needed to provide the stimulating experiences that foster optimal brain development.

My son has now graduated high school and has chosen a career as a wild land fire fighter. However because of his delayed skills he was on an Individual Education Plan (IEP) his entire academic career. It was a long and emotional road to help my son obtain the skills needed to be successful in school. It is out of my love for my son and concerns for his educational career that have lead me on this journey to starting my own business.

I begin working at the Salt Lake City School District in the Title I department . It was there, I learned how to navigate the education system. Having unrestricted access to educators, administrators and student demographical data it became increasingly clear that the key to success for children ages 2-5 was providing them with comprehensive educational, health, nutritional, and social services.

It is my hopes, dreams and aspiration to be able to provide quality affordable care for children of working families. It is my goal to prevent another parent from experiencing the emotional upheaval caused from not receiving developmentally appropriate education for children who otherwise would not have the opportunity to be prepared for kindergarten.

Testimonial

I have personally seen Ms. Robles interact with children on a daily basis over the past two years. She is caring, skilled, and encourages creativity and personalities to blossom. With her own children as well as my children and others, Ms. Robles has a gentle and accepting nature while providing and reinforcing healthy limits and behavioral expectations. I highly recommend her and the Brighter Steps Preschool for your family's needs!"

My little ones...

I am the proud mother of Isaiah (21), Tristan (14), Liliana (9) and Zion (2). They are my reason for living! I aspire to be a good mother in their eyes. They are the driving force behind Brighter Steps!

A Mother's Love

There is no love, like a mother's love
no stronger bond on earth...
like the precious bond that comes from God,
to a mother, when she gives birth

A mother's love is forever strong,
never changing for all time...
and when her children need her most,
a mother's love will shine.
